Outdoor Living for Happy Homeowners
Challenge
The homeowners have a lovely 52-year-old home in a quiet neighborhood in Ellicott City. Their home already had an existing patio that was suitable but very small. Keeping firewood stored made this area even more cramped. They wanted a space where they could relax, entertain guests, and take full advantage of their spacious yard. Our designer used their "wish list" to create the perfect outdoor living space for the homeowners.
Solution
The addition of an attached screened-in porch gave out clients a shaded entertainment area, keeping out the bugs and mosquitoes on a hot summer's night. At the center of the room is an attractive gas heater, perfect for taking the chill out of the cool fall air.
Pennsylvania Bluestone enhances the beauty of the flooring and Ledger stone trim encompasses both the enclosed porch and the open patio area. A Jen-Wen out-swing patio door now separates the family room and the screen porch, creating a entertainment space that seamlessly transitions from indoors to outdoors.
The patio, complete with a custom-built fire pit, is large and spacious enough for friends and family to enjoy. Our homeowners are avid grillers so including a gas grill was a must. Our design team was able to come up with a creative way to store the firewood without compromising space. This unique configuration keeps the patio tidy and give extra space for food preparation. Rounded corners and trimmed with Ledger stone give their patio a unique look.
We ran into a slight delay due to the lack of availability of the Pennsylvania Bluestone, pushing back the timeline by a few weeks. However, staying within budget and creating a unique design for this couple added beauty and value to this home.
The exceptional design and craftsmanship of the new screened-in porch accentuate the homes exterior and fit the needs of the happy homeowners.
