For a lot of people garages are just a place where you park your car at night, or a place where you store all your old junk. But for some people it is important that their garage is a finished space, an extension of the interior of the home.
For our clients in Severn, they knew that creating a space where they would be happy to park their car, but could also serve other functions was the right choice for them. They chose to do their renovation project in the summer time, which was perfect because that is the time when you know it is okay to park your car in the driveway.
Inside we created a finished space for them that have dual uses as a car park and an entertaining space. Garages are a good place to kick back with the garage door open and enjoy a warm summer day, practically without ever leaving home. We gave the floor of their garage a new finish, a sink for entertaining, and cabinets for storage. We even put in a fold own table for keeping tools and completing home projects.
Our clients realized, the sky’s the limit when it comes to the interior of your garage. They took advantage of our expertise and dedication to excellent craftsmanship and designed the garage they’ve always wanted. Now they have a garage that really is an extension of their home and they have multiple uses for.
Our clients own a home in Pasadena, MD, and decided that it was finally time to put in a little work around the house, and completing a few updates to make the home more comfortable. The homeowners came to us wanting to transform their old and outdated bathroom into a beautiful new space that will be practical as well as stylish. Being experts in bathroom renovations we knew that renovations can come in all shapes and sizes, since the bathroom wasn’t very large, the homeowners wanted to make sure that they stuck to their budget by investing in some sweat equity.
We are installing new CPVC water lines, meaning that we will also have to replace the subfloor and drywall. Our plans also include removing the commode and replacing the base trim of the floor, ceramic wall tiles in the shower and a few new shower fixtures. The tiles in the shower will go all the way up the ceiling, elongating the height of the ceiling and making the space appear larger.
The homeowners are getting a lot of new items added into their renovated like brushed nickel shower fixtures, tub and shower tiles, flooring, new cabinetry and a fresh coat of paint. However, sticking to their budget was very important to them; in order to cut costs the homeowners were willing to invest their own time and salvage and reuse their old vanity and bathroom accessories in order to get a gorgeous new bathroom without blowing their budget out of the water.
For the finishing touch, the homeowners will paint the walls themselves. They are so excited for the final and completed project. It will be even more rewarding to get to the end of this project because they invested their own time into the final product. They will love taking pride in their work, and they will definitely be impressed with our outstanding designs and craftsmanship.
Our client wanted to create a fresh new sunroom off the back of her house. Approaching retirement age she wanted to be able to enjoy her downtime in peace. The design that we came up with blended perfectly in with the existing exterior of her Annapolis home and she was thrilled with what we came up with.
Our client played a number of instruments, including the violin and guitar, she played some gigs on weekends and needed extra space where she could practice and rehearse. Large glass windows let in an abundance of natural light, as any sunroom should do. The big arched window at the center of the room draws the eye in and gives the space balance and symmetry. She loved spending time relaxing with her cat, so we added a burning stove that was able to generate warmth throughout the whole house. Now there was a place where her cat could curl up and enjoy the warmth, while the homeowner practiced her music.
Outside the home, directly off the sunroom, we built a brand new patio with stone pavers where she could host mini concerts for her friends, family, and neighbors. The new sunroom really jazzed up her Cape Cod style home and she was in love with the results.
“The sunroom project was well organized. I love my new space to play instruments!”
This home in Glen Burnie got a major renovation; our design experts were able to add curb appeal and equity to your home. This Cape Cod style home had a dingy attic that wasn’t being used and was taking away from the space in the home. We built an addition off the back of the home, changing the apex of the roof by lifting the ceiling up about six feet. Thanks to this elevation and added space the children were able to have their own bedrooms.
The addition also meant that there was room for additional space for an extra bathroom. Before, the master bathroom was the only useable bathroom upstairs, but we were able to add another bathroom on and expand the master bathroom. The addition of a new bathroom meant the master bedroom could become a true master retreat with an ensuite.
To make the home more energy efficient we also added new insulation, siding, and roofing. This completely changed the exterior of the home making it brighter and more appealing. A brand new red door gave this home the added pop it needed for a fresh new look.
The Yuengling home backed up to the water in Severna Park, MD. They had an old and unusable deck that was dangerous to be on. They came to Starcom with a vision of a two-story outdoor deck that allowed them to enjoy their backyard. After consulting with our designers, we installed an expansive deck with a cherry finish that complemented the customer's home. The Yuengling's are able to use this outdoor living area for most of the year and have received numerous compliments from their friends.
The Simon's were tired of the bland exterior of their ranch home in Linthicum Heights. Their house was built in 1980 and it was in need of an update. They came to Starcom unsure of how to fix the issue.
We changed the siding from tan to a navy vinyl. Insulated vinyl siding protects against heat loss and helps lower energy costs. Next, we added a white porch with a matching pergola. The curb appeal of the ranch home has been increased dramatically. Exterior makeovers are a fantastic way to make the homeowner feel as if they are coming home to a brand new house without the major hassle of moving.
Our clients had a large backyard that afforded them enough room to build a large sunroom. The homeowners are both avid readers but did not have a dedicated space in which to do so. A sunroom provides an inviting space to relax with natural light. A design encompassing floor to ceiling windows and skylights was just what they dreamed of. We also installed custom built-ins for their substantial book collection.
The Daniel's have a large family room but it was relatively plain before we started. We upgraded the red brick fireplace to grey stone with a dark wood mantle. We also took out the wood burning fire place to install an oblong contemporary gas fireplace. Finally, we ripped out the carpet and installed wide pannel wood floors. This quick remodel flows better with the rest of the home and is more ideal for entertaining.
Our clients love to entertain and have many visitors in their home through out the year. Their guest bathroom was in need of a refresh for functionality and aesthetics. Previously, the homeowners had a typical 80s bathroom that had seen better days.
The bathroom received a makeover that changed the look entirely. White shower tiles, black decorative tile, a shower niche and black matte fixtures were added to transform the shower. The bathroom yields a clean look that can be decorated in numerous ways depending on the homeowner's preferences over the years to come. Additional storage was also added for guests to stow their toiletries on visits.
Their new guest bathroom flows much better with the rest of their home and is an effective use of space for traffic patterns.
Our client had an outdated kitchen that was too cramped for someone who loves to host parties. A rarely used dining room was adjacent to the kitchen but separated by a shallow pantry and a non-load-bearing wall, which included HVAC vents. The kitchen also had bulkheads and an overall lack of light.
Starcom created the optimal layout for this kitchen by removing the wall and relocating the HVAC. We added a peninsula with an overhang to create informal seating in the kitchen and include more cabinets for storage. In addition to the seating, the peninsula yielded a much-needed countertop work area.
The original small oak cabinets were replaced with a white recessed panel door style that continued to the ceiling with crown molding. Recessed lights throughout the first floor and under cabinet lights helped to illuminate the countertop so our client could create delectable treats for her guests.
The homeowner really wanted an island but did not have the room for a standard 36” top. We utilized cabinets that were shallower but still supported an overhang for additional kitchen seating.
In the old dining room, we added a closet that could be used as a large pantry or for storage. This new pantry was double the size of the previous pantry and had the proper depth to really be efficient. It is our goal to deliver flexible, functional, beautiful spaces that will fit your lifestyle.
Our clients had a charming house with a kitchen that needed help in a few key areas.
First and foremost, there was no room for a dish washer. This was of course a non-negotiable in the re-design. In addition, the kitchen was very separated from the dining and living room. There was a lack of storage and therefore the already limited countertop was home to many appliances and larger bins.
We removed the entire wall between the kitchen and dining room and opened up the doorways into the living room. This presented the challenge of matching the original wood floors and re-staining to create a seamless base for the new kitchen. By having the floors match throughout, we were able to “steal” some of the dining room space for a large pantry cabinet.
The original kitchen had a cramped area for 2 stools but the counterspace was preoccupied and you could not converse with the rest of the home. Now, guests can sit at the peninsula and easily talk face-to-face with anyone in the dining or living room. The homeowners wanted to achieve the brightening effect that white cabinets give but did not want the space to look sterile. They selected a cream colored, shaker style cabinet that compliments the wood floors but also the age of the home.
The kitchen remodel was life changing for our clients who have hosted many family gatherings since the completion.
On Time. On Budget. Happy Customer.
