Finished Basement in Sykesville, MD

These homeowners wanted to make their basement the perfect entertaining space. What they really had in mind was hosting some pretty spectacular football parties and needed us to come in and finish the job for them. Their home in Sykesville was large enough that we had a lot of space to work with, and thought we would have no problem transforming this space into the hangout spot they always wanted.

In an unusual twist, shortly after we demoed the existing framework and drywall a huge storm hit and we noticed that the basement wall began to leak. Our team worked quickly to stop the leak and repair the foundation issues before any real damage was done. Luckily we had only began installing a little of the framing and the issue was resolved well before any of the new product were installed.

Our clients decided to install a walk-up bar instead of a walk-behind bar. They wanted their guests to have plenty of access to the drinks and to feel comfortable serving themselves. The new bar was situated up against the wall and was a great place for displaying food and snacks for the big game day parties. The basement also has a full bathroom, perfect for hosting out of town guests, as well as a spare bedroom.

This basement highlights one of the unique ways that ambiance lighting can make the room pop. Cove lighting was installed in the ceiling, by framing off a portion of ceiling and lining it with lights. The lighting creates a soft glow around the room and perfectly highlights the decorative ceiling. We mounted a projector on their ceiling for watching movies and sports on a massive screen, and the basement is game day ready!

The homeowners are pumped about their entertainment space and can’t wait to throw a party here. We just hope we get invited!
